Data Manager (Scientist) "PGXLink"

Serious illnesses and medical procedures, such as HIV infections, rheumatological diseases or organ transplants, require drugs that have a considerable influence on the patient's immune system. Especially with immunosuppressants, anti-inflammatory drugs and antiretroviral drugs, the occurrence of infections has become a major problem, and often the dosage is a tightrope walk between e.g. rejection and infection. PGXLink is a SNSF-funded "BioLink" infrastructure project aiming at providing the technical and content-related basis for bringing together data and samples from different cohorts (e.g. HIV cohort SHCS, rheumatism cohort SCQM, transplantation cohort STCS) in order to search for common factors that favour or prevent the occurrence of infections [].

To complete our team, we are seeking a motivated data manager/scientist (m/f/d) to manage and set up data governance documentation, exports, and transfers, to implement the data bases at the Insel High Performance Computing (HPC) facility, to set up the analysis infrastructure, to coordinate with the corresponding analysis project of the Bern Center of Precision Medicine (BCPM) and the consortium members. Participation in and support of the bioinformatic analyses is also substantial part of the outlined position.

Joint applications are welcome, but should together not exceed the 100% equivalent. The data manager will team up with the multidisciplinary Insel Data Science Center (IDSC).
  • Knowledge of databases and data export, optimally previous experiences with data management in a similar environment
  • Informatics skills and capabilities in ETL (extract-transform-load)-processes
  • Biological/biomedical background or experiences, preferably with an "-omics" background and data analytics and machine learning (e.g. knowledge in SQL, Python, R, DevOps). Experiences with medical registers will be helpful.
  • Project management skills (collaboration with "SCRUM" teams will be necessary)
  • Social skills (enthusiasm, communication skills including German, English, French) in working with different stakeholders throughout Switzerland.
We offer

The position is available immediately; the starting date can be discussed. The project is foreseen as a 2-year endeavour.

We look forward to you joining our team!
Feel free to contact Alexander Leichtle at the Insel Data Science Center, Please send your complete application (CV, motivational letter, grades and a portfolio of past projects) via email.
