Curriculum Officer (at the rank/grade of Teaching Assistant/Senior Research Assistant) (5 posts) in the Centre for Advancement of Chinese Language Education and Research (CACLER) within the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 500385) (to commence in September 2020, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal) 

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Chinese Education, Social Science or a related discipline; at least 3 years’ post-qualification teaching experience in kindergartens; a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese); familiarity with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); and excellent administrative, interpersonal and organizational skills. They should be enthusiastic, responsible, and able to work independently and as a team. Those who are interested in providing quality research support service to investigators and other stakeholders with experience in teaching non-Chinese speaking children are preferred. 

The appointee will be responsible for assisting the Project Investigators to conduct research on the teaching and learning of Chinese for non-Chinese speaking kindergarten students; co-teach Chinese to non-Chinese speaking children with teachers from partner kindergartens; provide on-the-job-training and mentorship to teachers of partner schools; conduct and lead professional development workshops; develop effective pedagogical approaches to cater for learning diversity; design teaching and learning materials; write up research reports and evidence-based pedagogical reports; organize project activities; and perform other duties assigned.
