The Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Heidelberg invites applications for the position of a

Coordinator PhD courses (m/f/d)

at the newly established Max-Planck School “Matter to Life”

(100 %, not divisible), the contract is limited to 12 months.

As a new form of graduate education, the Max-Planck Schools, joint initiatives of several German universities and research institutes, will bring the most talented students worldwide to German universities and research institutes. Together with top scientists, they will work on interdisciplinary research-oriented questions focused on molecular systems chemistry and biological physics. The young scientists will be trained in a research-oriented manner and under the best conditions.

The scope of duties includes the conception, development, and the coordination of different scientific and research skill oriented courses for the PhD phase of the direct-track Master-PhD program of the Max-Planck School “Matter to Life”. Moreover, they will develop ideas and implementations to foster the collaborative Matter to Life community. This might include Virtual Discussion Rounds and the organization of in person meetings. The highly motivated person will contribute at courses and performance tests.

Candidates are expected to hold a PhD degree in Physics, Chemistry, or a related field and be interested in working in a highly diverse and interdisciplinary environment. We are seeking to employ a highly motivated and capable person with the willingness to participate at the Max-Planck School “Matter to Life”. To work in a team, reliability, willingness to perform, flexibility of time, and the ability to work independently are essential for the position. Practical experiences/expertise with the implementation of graduate programs or schools would be of advantage as well as an insight into the research direction of the Max-Planck School Matter to Life. Also, an interest or a background in teaching is advantageous for this position. The candidate should be fluent in word and writing in German and English.
