The research platform Data Science @ Uni Vienna has been in existence since 2018 and is growing rapidly. With 24 faculty members across 7 faculties, we are a very interdisciplinary group. We organize lecture series, summer schools, scientific meetings, retreats, and coordinate the three new master programs in Business Analytics, Data Science, and Digital Humanities. We are looking to fill the position of an institute coordinator. The main tasks are the support of the research platform in fulfilling its tasks and duties within the University of Vienna.

Fixed-term employment: 1 year. Extension of employment for the duration of the platform is possible and desired.

Duration of employment: 1 year/s

Extent of Employment: 25 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: 54 VwGr. IIIb with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:

As a platform coordinator you will deal with the entire operative area of the Data Science Platform and form the interface between general and scientific staff as well as to the platform management. This includes the following tasks:

• Ensuring compliance with the framework conditions of labour law
• providing technical guidance to the platform’s general staff and coordinating personnel agendas
• Implementation of personnel development measures including the planning of necessary training measures
• Organisation and monitoring of the selection process for the recruitment of new employees
• Optimization of business processes in the administration
• Responsibility for the platform’s entire reporting system (e.g. intellectual capital statement, etc.)
• Preparation of the target agreement discussions at platform level as well as at university management level
• Participation in the strategic planning/alignment of the platform (budget, resources and international networking): organisation of the collection of the information required for the decisions of the Board
• Planning, budgeting and implementation of relevant investment projects for the platform, ensuring the economical use of resources
• Organisation and securing of the communication structure for internal and external communication
• Further development and central organisation of the platform’s public relations work (incl. social media)
• Planning and implementation of regular communication for general university staff

Profile:

• completed Bachelor degree
• excellent digital work practice (MS Office, etc.)
• good command of English
• experience in organization / administration of conferences and graduate programs
• Experience in administration of research projects
• experience in PR / creation of promotional materials
• experience with a content management system (e.g. Typo3)

• High command of oral and written language (German / English)
• Organising skills
• Self-reliance
• Strong motivation to work in a team environment
• Perseverance, focus, integrity, ability to get things done
• Ability to cope with pressure
• Willingness for further education
• experience with graphic design programmes like InDesign, Photoshop or Tableau
• Experience in University administration and knowledge of University structures and procedures
