Position Summary:

 

Reporting to the Supervisor Monitoring & Compliance, the incumbent’s mandate is directly linked to monitoring compliance related to Research Financial Management Services (RFMS) fund activity. This position will be responsible for the development and implementation of new risk based programs to identify non-compliance issues linked to financial controls, as per granting agency regulations. Liaise with the RFMS group to ensure efficient and expedient resolution for finance related compliance matters. Liaise directly with Faculty / department staff where necessary to expedite the review function. Responsible for managing multiple issues identified and ensure follow through with communication and follow up.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

    Plan and develop new risk-based monitoring programs (annual continuous audit programs vs. periodic programs)

    Implement new program(s); create standard templates to record audit findings and develop procedure manual

    Coordinate reviews with team to ensure effective and consistent application of agency policies and university guidelines

    Liaise with RFMS group to ensure efficient and expedient resolution of finance-related compliance matters

    Liaise directly with Faculty / department staff, where necessary, to expedite the review function

    Provide guidance to research community in the resolution of compliance issues

    Provide compliance tools and eligibility guidance to research community through trainings and other medium of discussion

    Ensure training team within RFMS is provided with pertinent and timely information, especially those affecting expense restrictions

    Provide pertinent, documented and timely updates to concerned parties regarding changes in procedures or requirements

    Collaborate on special projects

 

Education and Experience:

 

DEC III

 

Three (3) years’ related experience

 

Other Qualifying Skills and Abilities:

 

Experience in all aspects of financial research administration with strong financial analytical skills. Self-starter with ability to administer and follow-up on multiple files and projects and ensure decisions are made promptly to minimize inefficiencies. Demonstrated ability to work in a PC environment using advanced spreadsheet skills, databases, e-mail, as well as experience with Minerva, Banner (FIS) and Crystal reports. Knowledge of Caseware IDEA is an asset. Experience in troubleshooting, solving problems, taking initiative and prioritizing workload. Proven ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines. Service-oriented with the ability to communicate well with other units. Audit experience is an asset. English, spoken and written. French, spoken and read (written an asset).
