Chief Technical Officer, School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology

Permanent Whole-time Post

Applications are invited for the post of Chief Technical Officer (CTO) in the School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Reporting to the Head of School, the CTO will hold management responsibility and accountability for technical resources involving work allocation, quality, reporting and relevant training in line with School’s requirements. S/he will be expected to manage the technical team and resources and engage in the planning and delivery of all technical laboratory services within the School. S/he will adopt a lead role in the preparation and delivery of laboratory research training for undergraduate BSc programmes, and research training to MSc, MRes, and PhD students. The CTO will support research activity in the School through interactions with academic staff and researchers, overseeing the maintenance of equipment and facilities, and through relevant input into infrastructure plans, and financial/budgetary matters.

The School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology has a strong research ethos and is highly active in the delivery of research lead undergraduate BSC programmes, MSc programmes and PhD training. The BSc in Biochemistry is the School’s flagship undergraduate degree programme that is centred on strong elements of fundamental and applied biochemistry, experimental research, and laboratory skills training with a focus on critical thinking and analytical approaches. The School is also a central contributor to four related BSc degree programmes in Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, Genetics, and Medical and Health Sciences, and to the preclinical years in Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy.

Appointments may be made on the Chief Technical Officer Salary Scale: €65,606 - €70,237 (Scale B) / €62,419 - €67,849 (Scale A) Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
