The Chair will provide strategic leadership to advance the department’s research, education, and service missions, fostering inclusive excellence and expanding collaborations with industry and interdisciplinary partners. The BME Department comprises: 15 full-time faculty members (including joint appointments) Approximately 140 undergraduate students and 40 graduate students ABET-accredited undergraduate and graduate degree programs in biomedical engineering Research areas include: Cell and Tissue Engineering: Bio/microfluid dynamics, cell mechanics, hydrogels, drug delivery, biomaterials, regenerative medicine, biosensors, organ-on-a-chip Medical Imaging: MRI, cancer diagnosis, molecular imaging, biomarkers, computational modeling Neural Engineering: Neural prosthesis, implant design, computational neuroscience More information: https://www.iit.edu/bme The Chair will collaborate with the Dean and college/campus partners to develop and execute a plan to elevate the department’s research preeminence, grow the research enterprise, leverage Chicago-area industry partnerships, and foster an inclusive departmental community.
