Appointee is the point person for the Harding University Partnership School (HUPS) Community Center. The HUPS Community Center is a joint collaboration between the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education (GGSE), Santa Barbara Unified School District (SBUSD), and various community partners.

Appointee will coordinate and oversee the efforts of the collaboration to reach out to community members, partners, and donors to develop programming and activities that will expand upon existing programs and resources that are provided by GGSE to HUPS and the local surrounding community on the west side of the city of Santa Barbara.

As the primary point of contact for the Community Center, serves as a liaison and organizer of programs between the campus, SBUSD, community partners, and donors. Works with the Santa Barbara City Manager, City Council members, SBUSD board members, foundation board members, and other relevant city officials and county offices.

Conducts research and assessment on community services and the academic resources that particular collaborations between GGSE, SBUSD, and other community partners will do to enhance learning opportunities, and academic and other support (i.e. educational workshops and cultural, language and/or other human and community services) for students and families who are part of the HUPS community.

Appointee is also a liaison for GGSE faculty and HUPS serving as a primary contact for coordinating GGSE student placements to provide academic support for HUPS students, and other collaborations that provide academic and other support services.

Required Qualifications: Masters degree conferred by the time of the application

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. preferred
  • Minimum of one year experience working in program administration, preferably in an academic setting and with faculty.
  • Minimum of one year experience in public relations
  • Minimum of one year experience working with community, media, and non-profit organizations
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Ability to work independently to complete assigned tasks
  • Ability to work with a diverse population and wide range of constituents
