Career Service Arts offers students support and activities in preparation for entering the labor market such as assistance with finding internships, career advice, labor market orientation and assistance with preparation of applications. As of September 2019, Career Service Arts is also responsible for the alumni policy.

As a Career Service Officer it is your primary task to ensure that the students of the Faculty of Arts are well prepared for the job market. You advise students on internships and career and labor market orientation and you also provide information on this to groups of students. You create an offer of suitable internships in close consultation with teachers and program presidents. You recruit internships and consultancy assignments, and you are responsible for the organization and quality assurance of the internships and consultancy assignments. You maintain and expand the existing network of companies, institutions and alumni. You provide activities for both Dutch and foreign students.

You are responsible for the implementation, coordination and further development of the faculty internship policy, and in the long term of the alumni policy, and you actively contribute to quality assurance within Career Service Arts. You are also involved in the positioning of career and labor market orientation within the faculty programs and jointly responsible for the internal and external communication of Career Service Arts. In that context, you maintain contact with the study programs, other departments within the faculty and with organizations outside them. You work closely with the Alumni Officer and the internship coordinator.

Working environment

The Faculty of Arts has more than five hundred employees who are engaged in education and research in the field of history and art, languages and cultures, linguistics and communication and information sciences, or with the support of this education and research. The faculty provides training courses for around twenty-four hundred students.

Career Service Arts is part of the Education Office of the faculty. The Education Office also includes the Student Information Point (Education Administration and Student Desk), the faculty staff office, Osirisbeheer, International Office, study advisers, student communication, the support of the examination committee and the admissions committee, the education policy staff and the IT & Education policy staff. You report to the head of the Education Office.

We expect

a completed university education, preferably in the field of literature;
knowledge of the labor market for Letter students in the Netherlands;
preferably knowledge about the international labor market;
a network of relevant companies and institutions and the ability to expand existing networks;
experience in guiding and advising students;
experience in developing and implementing policies;
an independent approach and the team spirit to take on tasks together with colleagues or students where necessary;
a customer-friendly, flexible and proactive work attitude;
organizational talent;
strong communication skills;
you are familiar with automated systems in the field of student registration as well as relationship and website management and you are familiar with the (social media) communication channels to reach students;
excellent oral and written command of the Dutch and English language (preferably C1 level).

We offer

appointment: 0.8 FTE;
maximum monthly salary € 4,274 gross based on a 38-hour working week (salary scale 10);
the salary does not include 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% year-end bonus;
contract duration: 1 year with the prospect of extension;
UFO job profile: Internship coordinator, level 1 or Policy officer, level 4.
