With more than 3700 students and 400 employees, the Faculty of Law of the University of Amsterdam is one of the larger legal faculties in the Netherlands. The Faculty provides the Bachelor's degree programs in Law, Tax Law and - together with two other faculties - the English and interdisciplinary degree program in Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics (PPLE). In addition, it offers eleven master's programs with different variants. The faculty's research is conducted within the Amsterdam Research Institute for Legal Studies(ARILS), which includes a variety of research groups, programs and centers. The Faculty has an international profile and opts for a social approach to law.

Education and research are provided by the six departments of the Faculty: Private Law, Labor and Information Law, Public Law, International and European Public Law, General Law and PPLE. The departments are responsible for the general organization of education and research, and for the development of the qualifications of the members of the department.

Within the Faculty of Law , the Private Law department provides courses in the Bachelor of Law and the Masters courses: European Private Law, Law & Finance and Private Law. To support the program directors, coordinators and the secretariat, this department is looking for an assistant program coordinator.


The assistant training coordinator:

supports the program directors / coordinators in: the organization of degree ceremonies and panel discussions, the recruitment and selection of master students, communication with the Education Service Center, the annual report, the answering of e-mails from students, the support in the allocation of the master theses, making powerpoint presentations and keeping the training budgets up-to-date;
coordinates the study guide process within the department;
ensures that the alumni file remains up-to-date and that new alumni are added to the LinkedIn group;
maintains the financial Excel file of external income and expenditure;
is the ICT contact person for the department, for example handling of hardware and software orders, small relocations and removal of computers;
organizes events and congresses, for example the farewell of colleagues, ius commune workshop & congress, organization of the Bregstein thesis prize and the planning of thesis presentations;
performs general support tasks such as office orders and the processing of the department post.


The candidate we are looking for:

has at least a college degree;
has three years of work experience and excellent knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
has good oral and written skills in both Dutch and English;
is precise and has strong communication skills;
is service-oriented and proactive;
is good with social media such as Facebook and LinkedIn;
is flexible and can work independently;
can easily establish and maintain contacts with colleagues from other departments.
Work experience within a university environment is an advantage.

The appointment as assistant training coordinator takes place on a temporary basis for a year with the prospect of a one-year extension. The combination of the UFO profile for student affairs / secretary staff members applies to this position. Depending on education and experience, the salary is a minimum of € 2,261 and a maximum of € 3,445 gross per month (salary scale 7/8) based on full working time. The Cao Dutch Universities applies.
