Description

Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking an Assistant Director of Marketing for a variety of Varsity Sports Programs. This position will serve as the primary marketing contact with supervision and management of all efforts and initiatives for Men’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Gymnastics, and Men’s Volleyball, and will assist others in the department in marketing efforts and initiatives for Women’s Basketball and Football. This position will also oversee the Penn State Cub Club, the official athletics kids club. The primary duties for this position will include assisting the efforts with all marketing and promotions, implementing and executing game day and event marketing strategies for events, monitoring and collaborating on social media efforts and grassroots campaigns to increase brand recognition and awareness, assisting in the supervision of events to ensure coordinated event details are completed, and assist in the hiring, training, and supervision of any marketing employees as well as shared supervision of marketing interns. This position will attend and actively contribute to the Athletic Department Marketing staff meetings and provide feedback, make recommendations on new policies, procedures, programs, and services for continual financial improvement, and perform other duties as assigned. This job will be filled as a level 2 or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of athletic marketing and promotions, ticket sales, community relations, social media, in-game management, and be able to successfully and efficiently manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Because of the nature of athletic schedules, the selected candidate may be required to work flexible hours to meet the various demands of the operation. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral, as well as exceptional customer service skills are essential for this position.
