Job Description


The Assistant Director, under general direction, assists the Associate Director in all aspects of departmental operations and maintains responsibility for a major functional unit(s) within a department


Required Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree
  2. Six years of experience in simulation or healthcare

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Working knowledge of spreadsheet, presentation and word processing software programs.
  2. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to plan and organize effectively.
  4. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.


Preferred Education and Experience:

  1. Master's Degree
  2. Experience working with diverse individuals and communities
  3. Experience leading teams or supervising staff
  4. Experience with Budgeting/Accounting
  5. Experience with Inventory management
  6. Experience in medical education
  7. Experience with curricular development
  8. Experience with clinical simulation technology and pedagogy
  9. Experience with Standardized Patients
  10. Experience with Gynecological, Male Urogenital, and Physical Exams Teaching Associated
  11. Experience coordinating community outreach events or youth camps

 

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

License or certification in health profession or simulation field License or certification in business management or leadership


Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience with audio/visual software


Responsibilities:


  1. Serves on management team with other Assistant Directors and Associate Director. Represents the department, division, or University on various committees.
  2. Participates in developing departmental strategic plans based on department goals.
  3. Plans budget for department(s) under their supervision and assists Associate Director and Director in planning and budgeting for department.
  4. Develops reports, analyses, and surveys as requested by Associate Director.
  5. Participates in planning, directing, and coordinating operational or procedural matters to meet department goals and objectives.
  6. Facilitates planning, coordination , and implementing all outside contracts and camps for the department
  7. Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates programs
  8. Provides leadership for department along with and in absence of the Associate Director.
  9. Provides supervision and guidance to a team or departmental sub-unit(s).
  10. Monitors compliance with all unit, department, University, and government standards, policies, and procedures.
  11. Handles special projects as assigned by the Associate Director or Director.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.
