Penn State Dickinson Law, located in Carlisle, PA, seeks applications from experienced professionals with broad leadership and management experience for the position of Assistant Dean of Administration. The Assistant Dean for Administration is a key member of the Law School’s executive team and reports to the Dean of the Law School providing counsel to the Dean on all matters relating to the administration of the law school, participating in strategic planning and assessment efforts, and providing overall leadership and administration of the Law School’s Career Services Office. The successful candidate will have 12+ years of executive experience and will possess a J.D. degree from an American Bar Association (ABA)-accredited law school. Experience in law school or other higher education administration is highly desirable. The Assistant Dean will provide day-to-day leadership, administration and planning for law school operations, including: working closely with the Law School’s Financial Officer and participating in annual budget and long-term planning meetings with the Dean; serving as Budget Executive (Proxy for Dean) and Budget Administrator; independently leading special projects assigned by the Dean, which may be confidential and/or time sensitive; and representing the Dean in outside forums, as needed. The Assistant Dean for Administration will also have policy and planning responsibilities, which will include: creating strategic frameworks and policies to meet the law school’s objectives; collaborating with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Associate Dean for Academic and Student Services and the Assistant Dean for Admissions, as well as other law school faculty and staff, on strategic initiatives; acting as a liaison with outside organizations, such as accrediting bodies, grant funders and others to maintain the standing and position the Law School for continued success; and developing relationships with other Penn State Units to identify and implement opportunities for collaboration among students, faculty, staff and community partners to foster scholarship and community impact. The Assistant Dean for Administration will collaborate with the Dean and stakeholders to develop, refine and communicate the strategic vision for the Law School. The incumbent will manage agendas and communication with all the Law School’s advisory boards and committees, including the Dickinson Law Association, the Leadership Council and Trusted Advisor Groups, and will regularly report to the relevant stakeholders. The Assistant Dean for Administration will lead the Career Services Office at the law school, providing strategic direction to the Career Service Office. Responsibilities include oversight of professional development and career counseling programming for students, alumni and employer outreach, and managing mandatory reporting.
