Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Department of Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership (TLPL) is searching for an Assistant Clinical Professor and Coordinator of World Language/Dual Language Education. This individual will work collaboratively with other faculty in the Division of Language, Literacy, and Social Inquiry (LLSI) to coordinate the day-to-day activities of the World Languages undergraduate and graduate programs, both on-campus and in local schools, as well as emerging programs in Dual Language Education. The World Language/Dual Language Education Programs Coordinator assists in recruitment and program improvement initiatives, completes required accreditation reports with state and national data recording as requested by the College of Education, communicates regularly with current and prospective students about program requirements and opportunities, collaborates with various program partners and educational stakeholders, and performs other related duties. Responsibilities include teaching and service in the department. This is a clinical faculty 9-month position with up to two additional months of compensated summer commitment.

Minimum Qualifications:

● Pre-K-12 classroom teaching experience in world languages, dual language bilingual education, two-way immersion, and/or immersion classroom settings.
● PhD or EdD in world languages, language education, applied linguistics, or related field.
● Evidence of proficiency in a language other than English.
● Evidence of ability to work with multiple stakeholders connected to the teacher certification process.
● Currently holds or formerly held public school certification in world languages, dual language education, TESOL/ESL, or bilingual education.
● Evidence of commitment to inclusive pedagogies, multilingualism, anti-racist pedagogies, social justice, and/or critical consciousness

Preferences:

● Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations and marginalized communities.
● University teaching expertise in world language education methods, dual and two-way immersion language education, assessment, culturally and linguistically diverse exceptional learners, or multiliteracies.
● Experience supervising teacher candidates.
● Experience teaching and advising in a teacher education program at both the undergraduate and master’s levels.
● Experience in dual language programs.
● A demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentorship, including working with students and groups from underrepresented backgrounds.
● Experience working with a diverse range of faculty, staff, and students, with contributions to a climate of inclusivity.
