The Role

The Department of Chiropractic is seeking a dynamic and experienced manager to partner with our Head of Chiropractic to provide leadership in the day to day running of the Department and to provide professional advice and support to the Department across a broad range of matters.


Responsibilities of this diverse role include:

  • Contributing to development of strategic plans and goals for the Department and implementing operational business plans to support these
  • Planning, managing and reviewing the processes and resources associated with the provision of effective operational support across the full range of Department activities
  • Providing financial advice and managing all budget and financial issues for the Department including liaising with relevant internal and external stakeholders/grant funding bodies
  • In conjunction with the HoD, plan, manage, advise on and allocate physical, financial and human resources to meet Department objectives
  • Managing a small team of administrative staff and provide administrative services and support in relation to the financial aspects of the Department, including preparation and monitoring of the budget, forecast and expenditure
  • An understanding of Health and Safety principles in a clinical setting
  • Collaborate with other Department, Faculty and University staff to share information and ensure consistency of systems and processes.
  • Comply with relevant EEO and WHS regulations

The Department of Chiropractic, within the Faculty of Science and Engineering, operates as a high-level, cross-disciplinary department offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses, occasional expert seminars and opportunities for research in the many areas associated with musculoskeletal disorders. The Department of Chiropractic offers students a rigorous, fully accredited program. Featuring the Master of Chiropractic, this curriculum delivers learning experiences across clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic fields.   • A degree in Business Administration and/or relevant experience with advanced knowledge of the higher education sector
  • Demonstrated financial management knowledge and experience including budget preparation, reporting and financial analysis
  • Demonstrated experience planning and allocating physical and human resources to meet business objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven management/leadership experience and skills and the demonstrated ability to nurture and develop individual and team performance (including through change)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead process improvement initiatives by reviewing procedures, making recommendations and implementing and communicating outcomes



  • Demonstrated experience in higher education, in particular in research administration and grant funding
