CDBB Operations Manager (Fixed Term)


The CDBB Operations Manager supports the Head of Operations in the provision of a smooth operational environment for the delivery of the programme. Responsibilities include HR, procurement, finance, contracting and sub-contract management, IT and project management. The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience of operational or project management in a variety of environments preferably including research-related roles.

  • Good problem solving and negotiation skills

  • Strong project management and organisational skills combined with good attention to detail

  • Experience of working on collaborative projects, or with sub-contracted work packages is desirable.


The University has received funding of £30m million from InnovateUK as part of the £72m Core Innovation Hub partnership with BRE and MTC. The Centre for Digital Built Britain (CDBB) at the University of Cambridge will focus on the ongoing transformation of the built environment through the digital tools, standards and processes that are collectively known as Building Information Modelling (BIM). The Centre is a key element in the Digital Built Britain programme which has the ambition of delivering a step-change in construction productivity, creating approximately £2.9 billion of net discounted savings for the Exchequer through the delivery of high performing assets in infrastructure and buildings, and driving exports for UK firms.


The long-term vision for the Centre is to develop and demonstrate policy and practical insights that will enable the exploitation of new and emerging technologies, data and analytics to enhance the natural and built environment, thereby driving up commercial competitiveness and productivity, as well as citizen quality of life and well-being.


Funding for this post is available to 30 September 2022 in the first instance. Funding is available for a full-time post, but the Centre would consider proposals for job-share arrangements or for part-time working at 80% FTE or above.
