The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) (DVCA) is a member of The University’s senior executive, and is responsible for the University’s commitment to providing high-quality teaching and learning, and enhancing the UQ student experience.

 

The Student Services Directorate is part of the Student Affairs Division, which also comprises the Health Service and UQ Student Employability Centre. The Student Employability Centre is custodian of the UQ Student Employability Strategy, and coordinates and promotes the distinctive features of the UQ student experience including the ‘UQ Employability Award’, leadership, global mobility and undergraduate research experiences, and provides supports to enable students to translate, articulate and transfer these experiences into the workplace.

 

The objective of Student Services is to provide a range of services and support functions that enhance the student experience, aid retention and assist in ensuring student success.

 

The role
This role is critical in assisting with the delivery of services for students. Working as part of a team within Student Services, this position provides direct and indirect support for students. Amplifiying the impact of our services is one part of the role and this is done through supporting teams who are in the direct service provision role. This role is largely in the support function but you may also be delivering services directly. A keen desire to work between a supportive administration role with the purpose and impact of direct service delivery should be something you are comfortable doing.

 

This role is a broad-banded across two pay scales and the appointment will be made according to experience and capability.

 

Working across UQ and with students and colleagues, this position will assist in the coordination, delivery and development of new initiatives that enhance the student experience at UQ.

 

The person
The successful applicant will possess excellent communication skills, a strong orientation to the provision of a high level of customer service, and the ability to establish good working relations at all levels and liaise effectively with both students and staff. You will have a degree from a recognised university with substantial experience in student administration or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training within a direct service support function or heavily administrative protrame. For a higher level appointment, additional experience, as outlined in the PD is required.

 

You should have a strong desire to work collaboratively and in partnership with colleagues and students to create and deliver a program of activity that enhances the student experience for all students at UQ.

 

Some of our work involves supporting the international student supervision scheme for students under 18 years old, as such a second language in line with the cultural diversity of our students would be an advantage.

Remuneration
This is a full-time, continuing appointment remunerated at HEW Level 4 to or 5, depending on skills and experience.

 

The remuneration package at HEW Level 4 will be in the range of $ 61,179.60 – $ 65,055.88 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $71,580.13 - $ 76,115.38 p.a.). The remuneration package at HEW Level 5 will be in the range $ 66,347.80 - $ 74,098.94 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $ 77,626.93 - $ 86,695.76 p.a.).
