The Assistant Administrator for Patient Care Services is a member of the senior nursing leadership team of University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC), providing key administrative leadership and operational guidance to the medical center. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of multiple women and infant services programs including human resource management; staff and physician relationships; financial management and reporting; patient access and throughput; program efficiencies; customer service and regulatory compliance.

 

The position requires work across multiple disciplines, services and care settings across UW Medicine. This position provides direction and leadership for all aspects of operations across the women and infant service line including: a focus on patient experience through deployment of Patients Are First tactics and attainment of service goals; professional nursing development including provision of mentorship to direct reports; workforce management (staffing models and staff deployment); building strong collaborative relationships with all levels of medical and nursing leadership; achievement of financial targets; program efficiencies including management of patient access and throughput; development and achievement of service line specific quality measures through a robust quality improvement process; ensuring regulatory compliance at all times (TJC, DOH)

 

Oversees the complex and integral operations of Women and Infant Services at UWMC including oversight of Labor and Delivery; Antepartum; Mother Baby unit and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. All of the included units provide quatenary care to very complex patients. The Women and Infant service line has been identified for significant programmatic growth as part of UW Medicine's Financial Integrity Transformation (FIT) plan. Oversees 234 FTEs and budgets totalling $31,805,079. Collaborates with a broad number of departments and leaders wiithin UWMC and across UW Medicine. Represents UWMC on various committees across UW Medicine and in local, statewide and national initiatives and collaboratives (Vermont-Oxford Network, Bree Collaborative)

 

Position requires: WA RN license, BSN, Master's in Nursing or Health Service Administration, 8 years of successful leadership in a hospital with high acuity obstetric services and neonatal ICU. Demonstrated competence in financial management, clinical and practice management. Comfortable and conversant with tools and techniques associated with process improvements, change management, and major systems change through the use of group processes. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Administrative experience in an academic medical center. Ability to work with medical staff, managers and other staff as part of the Patient Care Services Division. Ability to lead teams which include faculty and staff. Proven successful communication and interpersonal skills, facilitation skills, and effective management of projects. Basic computer knowledge and command of basic personal computer skills. Credible presence with a professional image.
