HR Manager (maternity cover)

Grade 7- £32,236 - £39,609 p.a.

Come and join a growing and exciting department at the University of Oxford as a generalist HR manager. This HR role is an integral part of the department and you will work closely with the senior management team to run the delivery of an effective HR service to the department. This role is a 1 year maternity cover role and would be a great secondment opportunity for staff already within the University.


This post brings an excellent opportunity to progress as a generalist HR Manager in a growing department. Managing the HR function in a department, with responsibility for overseeing the provision of an effective HR service and for contributing to the wider management of the department through the development and implementation of departmental HR strategy and procedures.


The operational duties of the post include managing the Departmental Human Resources function, including line-management of the HR and Graduate Studies Officer whilst also providing support to other junior colleagues. Reviewing and updating policies and procedures, and ensuring that the activities of the Department comply with relevant legislation and University statutes, regulations, policies and procedures.


You will have; excellent interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels, accuracy and a high level of attention to detail is essential, be able to manage your own workload and work effectively as part of a team or independently. Previous HR management experience would also be beneficial.


This post is fixed-term and will be based at the Department of Paediatrics, in the John Radcliffe Children’s Hospital, in Oxford. The department is committed to continuing personal development and attendance of relevant courses and training is encouraged.
