ERM Program Manager Opportunity:
The ERM Program Manager role will develop, implement, evaluate and advance Stanford University’s ERM activities in collaboration with the Associate Director – ERM. This role will require working closely with other functions of the Office of the Chief Risk Officer (OCRO) and risk owners across the University to be a valued partner and advisor and to support Stanford University’s vision and mission through the ERM program. 

Your Responsibilities: 

  • In collaboration with the Associate Director - ERM, participate in developing and implementing the annual ERM Plan to ensure that the ERM program is effective
  • Coordinate, collaborate and partner effectively with other functions of the Office of the Chief Risk Officer on integrated reviews and assessments, integrated delivery of services and successful completion of departmental objectives
  • Develop, review, update and maintain all documentation, including but not limited to core ERM documentation, risk repository information, dashboards, project plans and meeting minutes
  • Develop and disseminate ERM training and awareness materials to maintain a risk-conscious culture
  • Prepare materials for various oversight committees and stakeholder groups
  • Prepare tools, templates and conduct research to advance the ERM program
  • Support the facilitation of meetings at various forums
  • Partner effectively with stakeholders at all levels and in all areas of the University to develop and maintain strong relationships
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.


To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • A bachelor's degree and seven years of relevant experience at a higher education institution, healthcare institution or large consulting firm, or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of internal controls and ERM frameworks 
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, analytical, critical thinking, written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail and a healthy respect for quality work products and timelines
  • Experience in managing projects and working with diverse groups
  • Excellent judgment and sound decision-making to obtain viable solutions and demonstrate initiative
  • Ability to work independently; requires little supervision on all but unique matters.
  • Ability to recommend changes in policy or practice based on new data or situations.

In addition, our preferred requirements include: 

  • An Advanced Degree/Certification preferred, e.g., CPA, CIA, MBA.
  • Participation in enterprise risk assessment and management projects within complex organizations or experience working in or with Internal Audit preferred.
