HEAD OF DEPARTMENT OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS

 

The Department of Electronic Systems / Electronic Systems, the Technical Faculty of IT and Design (TECH) at Aalborg University (AAU) is looking for a visionary leader who wishes to join the management work at a modern and development-oriented university. Entry is required on March 1, 2019.

About the institute

 

The Department of Electronic Systems is one of the four faculties of the TECH Faculty. The department is organized in 6 sections located in Aalborg and Copenhagen - Antennas, Propagation and Millimetre-Wave Systems, Automation and Control, Communication, Media and Information Technologies, Connectivity, Signal and Information Processing and Wireless Communication Networks.

 

The institute has more than 250 employees who emphasize cooperation with the business community and the surrounding community. The institute offers a wide range of education programs in electronic systems at both bachelor and master's level and continued academic development. Through its research efforts and cooperation with the outside world, the Institute continuously contributes to the development and prosperity of society.

 

The Institute has strong academic environments and is consistently high ranking in the world.

The head of department is responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of the department, including planning and assignment assignments. As head of department you will be required to undertake tasks within both professional management, strategic management, financial management and staff management. For example, you have the responsibility for:

  • that the Institute's strategy, professionalism, staff development and finances are continuously evaluated, adjusted and further developed

  • the Institute's employee empowerment and talent development

  • to follow up on evaluations of education and teaching in cooperation with study boards and study leaders

  • quality in research, teaching and knowledge collaboration

  • that the Foundation's employees bring their strong skills into play and work together on common goals and activities

  • to identify and seek new opportunities and turn them into activities that can develop the institute and the university - including the development of new education and research activities

 

AAU's strategy and core values have its foundation in problem-orientation, interdisciplinarity and innovation. The head of department, together with the Dean, the Dean, the Deans and the Faculty's other departmental leaders, is responsible for ensuring the implementation of the University's strategy and the faculty's strategic efforts, including further developing the Institute as an attractively strong international research community.

 

As head of department, you must insist on further developing the institute as a strong international research and education environment. You will represent the University in connection with contact with and negotiation with national and international partners, and you will need to set the institute even more clearly on the map.

 

qualifications

 

As an Institute Manager, you must have a teaching experience and be a professional internationally recognized researcher at least a lecturer level in the field of Signals and Systems.

 

You have great insight into the interaction of research and higher education with the surrounding community, both nationally and internationally. You have visions for the development of the department and the ability to read the society's future needs in research, education, talent development and knowledge sharing.

 

As an applicant for the position, you must have experience with management in a research and education environment. It is expected that you can deliver clear and strategically oriented management in an exciting everyday life. At the same time, you will have the institute to function as a single unit that optimally utilizes the various expertise in the department's research and teaching activities.

 

You are good at working together at all levels, a strong communicator, has the power and willingness to, together with the employees, the Dean and the other management team, take the lead and set goals and frameworks for education, research and external cooperation.

 

You are expected to master Danish / Scandinavian and English at the negotiation level.

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

 

Recruitment takes place on a 5-year period with the possibility of extension for up to 3 years without notice. There will be the opportunity to negotiate research time to a limited extent to the position.

 

Recruitment and remuneration are made in accordance with the agreement for academics in the state and associated protocols to the agreement for academics in the state as department heads and deans at universities as well as circulars on employee appointments. 
There is a possibility for negotiation of qualification allowance.

 

An agreement may be reached regarding a retirement position as an associate professor or professor at the end of the term. Entry into a retreat may take place after a positive expert assessment according to the academic structure of academic staff at universities and the rules of employment order.
