The successful candidate will write and edit website content to help University of Reading researchers communicate with the world. You will create multimedia digital content and develop website plans, to advise researchers working on world-class research projects across the University’s varied research.

This is a 6-month contract to develop the University’s online profile for research. The postholder will play a key role in delivering the University’s research communications strategy, which aims to support a culture of excellence, engagement and impact.


You will advise researchers on the development of research websites and digital content using a new platform of online tools and templates. You will create websites of varying complexity and size for researchers from a wide range of disciplines. You will advise and guide researchers on creating appropriate content and on managing their digital presence using social media and other online channels.


You will be managed by the Business Partner for Research Communications and will work closely on a day-to-day basis with other members of the Research Communications and Engagement Team, the Content Team, IT Services, and researchers across the University.


You will have:

  • Strong all-round communication skills, especially writing and ability to summarise complex ideas in clear, non-specialist language
  • Experience of developing strong content for websites and other digital media channels
  • Experience of using content management systems, including WordPress, to build websites of varying sizes and purposes
  • Experience of turning ideas into digital plans, with the ability to use initiative and to work with minimal supervision
  • Creativity and resourcefulness with sound judgement and commitment to high standards
