We have a great opportunity for a Corporate Applications and Database Manager to join our Computing Services team at the University of Bath. You will be leading a multi-skilled team to deliver relevant, resilient and cost-effective services. You will significantly influence strategic direction within the section, developing architectures, promoting standards and consistency.

 

The Corporate Applications and Database Manager is responsible for the development and maintenance of IT services that support the University’s research, teaching and professional services.  We are looking for someone who is able to apply significant technical expertise to resolve complex problems, generate innovative ideas and report on recommendations. Excellent team leadership and management skills, including effective coordination, motivation and negotiation is essential. It is also important that the successful candidate is able to navigate between the technical and management aspects of the role. 

 

Knowledge and Experience

• Demonstrable experience of successfully managing a team to deliver IT services within a large and diverse organisation
• Experience of managing the infrastructure of a diverse range of corporate applications (similar to Agresso, SITS:Vision and iTrent).
• Significant experience of most or all of the following technology areas: Oracle, SQL Server and MySQL databases and server operating systems (such as Solaris and Windows Server)
• A good understanding of the UK HE context
• Capable of managing small to medium projects using formal methods.

 

DBA Responsibilities

• Designing and configuring high-availability secure database platforms and databases
• Monitoring and performance tuning of the platforms and databases
