Job description

As our new full-time technical lab manager, you will assist with all aspects of the daily operations at ORBIT Lab. You will be a driving force in the further development of the ORBIT concept, with particular focus on the technical aspect. Aside from ongoing projects in the lab, you will be involved in hosting a wide range of events such as tech talks, workshops, hackathons and pitch nights meant to inspire creativity, facilitate learning and foster networks between students, academics and industrial partners.


Your qualifications

We imagine that you:

Have a passion for technology and enjoy learning about and exploring new technologies
Love hands-on problem-solving, being creative and thinking outside the box
Have software/hardware development experience within one or more of the following platforms: mobile, wearables, cloud (backend), IoT (embedded), VR and AR
Are organised and self-driven; enjoy responsibility and taking the lead in projects and activities
Thrive in a fast-paced environment and are able to manage and switch between multiple exciting projects
Enjoy helping and mentoring others
Have at least a Bachelors degree in IT, software engineering, computer science or a similar field

You may have recently graduated or be at an early stage in your career, looking for an opportunity to boost your own development. The most important thing is that you have passion, drive and hands-on skills.


Experience from start-ups or innovation projects, product development, interaction design, community building, marketing, growth hacking or other entrepreneurial activities is a plus.


About ORBIT Lab

ORBIT Lab is an inspirational workspace and a uniquely experimental facility packed with the most recent technologies within mobile, wearables, cloud, IoT, VR/AR and test equipment. Our goal is to create a vibrant and interdisciplinary community that enables the kind of deep learning that can only be acquired through immersion, exploration and trial-and-error.


The lab is located in the very heart of campus at Aarhus University School of Engineering, Katrinebjerg, Finlandsgade 22, 8200 Aarhus N. The lab is accessible 24-7 and frequented by highly motivated students, primarily from the universitys engineering and computer science programmes. At ORBIT Lab, students receive guidance and inspiration from the best researchers and domain experts from both Aarhus University and our industrial partners. One of the key purposes of the lab is also to facilitate interdisciplinary research collaborations and development projects with other AU departments and external organisations.


Practical information

This is a fixed-term position of two years.
