Assistant Technical Manager (holding the functional title of Senior Technician) in the Department of Pathology (Ref.: 201800523) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)


Applicants should either (i) possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Molecular/Biomedical/ Biological Sciences or a related discipline, or (ii) be registered under the Hong Kong Medical Laboratory Technologist Board (Part I). They should have at least 10 years’ hands-on experience in clinic-based research laboratory, or a Master’s degree with at least 5 years’ experience. Experience in equipment management, qualification, and Occupational Safety and Health would be an advantage. They should be proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese, preferentially both Cantonese and Mandarin, and with good computer skills. They should also have excellent communication and supervisory skills; problem-solving ability; the ability to work independently and multi-task; self-motivation; a strong sense of responsibility and team spirit. The appointee will assist in laboratory management and housekeeping; operation and management of advanced equipment; teaching and research activities; training of junior staff and students; and other administrative duties as assigned. He/She will also be responsible for providing technical consultations, developing research techniques; supervising professional scientific equipment; and coordinating high-impact research projects.
