Job Summary

The Pediatric Hospitalist and Palliative Care Programs is seeking a Program Manager to support the administrative duties of Michigan’s Partners for Children. The Program Manager will support the day-to-day operations of the program, manage the grant and the budget, coordinate activities with health system support services, manage administrative staff, and lead the development of the program in year 2. The Program Manager will support operations by partnering with the Medical Director to lead team meetings, problem solve work flow or process issues, and lead communication with internal departments and/or external stakeholders. The program manager will ensure that grant-related funds are being used as specified in the budget and report and explain any budget variance to leadership. Lastly, the program manager will work with the Medical Director to plan for year 2 funding, staffing, patient population growth, and work to develop a formal partnership with an additional clinical partner in the state. The program manager will also work with the Medical Director to create a long-term strategic plan for the program.

 

Responsibilities*

  • Facilitate communication with Michigan’s Partner for Children Faculty/staff, C&W Administration, Department of Pediatrics, and support services across Michigan Medicine. These duties include planning and coordinating meetings, providing recurring financial and administrative reports, and providing relevant updates on the progress of the program.
  • Serve as a liaison between the program’s external partner (Hospice of Michigan) and Michigan Medicine. The program manager will work directly with Hospice of Michigan leadership to identify and problem solve external issues
  • Work directly with the program’s providers to problem solve work flow and process-related issues that directly impact the ability to provide services to the identified patient population.
    Work directly with the program evaluation team to facilitate the analysis of the program’s effectiveness through surveys, clinical data measurement, and claims data analysis. Work with partners to ensure the information is captured within a database.
  • Administer special projects or activities related to the follow-up programs as requested by program leadership.
  • Work in partnership with the Medical Director to develop a short-term (Year 1) and long-term (Year 5) strategic plan and vision.
  • Manage administrative staff in the program, including payroll, time off, and managing H/R related issues. Provide mentorship and continual learning opportunities for administrative staff.
  • Lead the implementation of the strategic plan, including:
  • Identify future, strategic funding opportunities.
  • Build partnerships with external Pediatric organizations by pursuing and analyzing the feasibility to expand the program to a new external clinical partner (e.g. Children’s Hospital) under the direction of the Medical Director.
  • Strengthen established relationships across Michigan Medicine.
  • Plan for Year 2 of the program by identifying funding sources, creating an updated staffing model, and leading any additional program-related requirements.

  • Report and explain budget variance to C&W Leadership.
  • Provide oversight of state allocated grant funding and ensure requirements for each funding opportunity are met.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team.
  • Demonstrated work ethic and reliability.
  • Demonstrated ability to take an idea from concept to implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage work across a set of diverse stakeholders.

 

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master’s Degree
  • 3 years’ experience in health care
  • Experience with Pediatrics and/or Palliative/Complex Pediatric Care
