INTERNAL VACANCY - This vacancy is open to employees of the University of Nottingham only.


An experienced professional is sought to drive the University’s engagement with the Innovate UK (IUK) Collaborative R&D Programme. The University has enjoyed considerable success in IUK funding that we want to build on to maximise the opportunities presented through the growth in UK R&D funding and the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund.


Reporting to the Head of Business and Local Partnerships, the post will play a key role in the University’s Research and Innovation (R&I) department and involve leading a small team. It will support other R&I initiatives, working closely with academics, contacts in business and external organisations and business development colleagues.


Delivering to annual team targets for sustainable income generation, the post holder will provide a leadership, development and advisory role in supporting and driving the development of collaborative proposals, with the aim of increasing the number and success of applications involving UoN. Developing and maintaining effective relationships with a range key stakeholders, including representatives of national agencies/sponsors, including key contacts at external sponsoring organisations and academic and business development personnel within UoN.


It is essential that candidates have strong experience in the development of University-business R&D and knowledge transfer activities, with a sounding understanding of the development issues (costing, IP, project design).Research experience/awareness and a strong understanding of the UK landscape for R&D funding is essential.


Candidates must hold a Degree and possess strong communication skills. A higher degree in a relevant area, which incorporated research elements is desirable. This full-time post is offered on a permanent basis.Applications for job share will also be accepted.


This post is a six month secondment opportunity. Requests for secondment from internal candidates will be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role
