Grade 7: £31,604 - £38,883 p.a.

The Department of Chemistry is looking for a Stores Manager to manage the stores operation across the Chemistry estate. You will be responsible for stores purchasing, receipting and distribution of supplies required for Chemistry’s teaching and research as well as managing waste disposal.


You will work with the University’s Procurement department and suppliers to ensure best price and timely delivery of chemicals, laboratory supplies and equipment. Developing and maintaining relationships with new and preferred suppliers, and lead on negotiations on price, quality and service to deliver best value.


You will oversee and manage all stores staff, so you will need to have previous store manager experience, in a high turnover busy environment located over several physical sites. You will have excellent people management skills, including managing diverse groups, teambuilding, identifying training and development and conducting Performance development reviews.


You will have formal Health and Safety training in manual handling, COSHH and compressed gases awareness and ensure all Health and safety policies are complied with at all times. In particular, ensuring that waste solvents are handled and transported in a safe and timely manner.


You will have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build good working relationships with academic and non-academic staff.


You will have Strong IT skills, in particular with Excel, with excellent analysis ability and in using proprietary stock control software.


This is a full-time, permanent post.
