At the Department of Meteorology (MISU) at Stockholm University we conduct research and education in an international environment within four main areas: Atmospheric physics, Dynamic meteorology, Physical oceanography and Chemical meteorology. In all these areas there is a strong focus on the climate and on processes important for the climate and its development. The department includes some 75 individuals, of which about 35 are teachers and scientists, 25 PhD students and 15 administrative and technical staff.

The department is part of the Bolin Centre for Climate Research that, together with other departments at the university covers research of most of the important aspects of the climate system and the Swedish e-Science Research Centre (SeRC), where we together with KTH and other universities develop e-Science tools and infrastructure to promote scientific breakthroughs in climate science. The department is also responsible for the International Meteorological Institute in Stockholm (IMI) which aim is to promote international scientific co-operation within the atmospheric, oceanic and climate sciences and closely related fields.

Main responsibilities

As administrator you are responsible for administrating the operations at IMI. This includes travel and hotel reservations, receiving international guests, handling renumerations and thus special income tax for foreign residents, as well as administrative planning and support of approximaterly five conferences per year. You assist MISU events in the same way, dissertations and department conferenses for example, and administrate MISU's seminar series. Your responsibilities also include the department's registry and archive as well as miscellaneous purchases. Other administrative tasks may be included.

Due to the Corona pandemic, IMI currently does not accept international guests. Temporarily the main focus of the position is therefore on the department archive and reviewing administrative procedures.

Qualification requirements

To be a successful applicant you must have an upper secondary qualification, be well experienced in similar tasks and feel at home in an international environment. You enjoy meeting other people, have a very good ability to work independetly as well as to collaborate with others. You are a skilled and accurate administrator, talented in taking the initiative and assessing what needs to be prioritised, and you have the ability to handle several cases parallelly. You are an accomplished computer user and are knowledgeable in the Windows Office suite. We would like you to have a driver's license.

The working language is English but the official language is Swedish. Excellent communication skills in both languages, both written and oral, is a prerequisite for the position.

Emphasis is placed on personal qualities.

Terms of employment

This is a full-time employment for a maximum of two years. Salaries at Stockholm University are determined individually; therefore, please indicate your requested salary. Start date immediately.
