The Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Infrastructure) and reporting units are responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of the centrally managed shared research facilities at UNSW, including the Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre, Research Technology Services which provide High Performance Computing and Data Services and a newly created core facility, Research Imaging NSW located at the Prince of Wales Hospital. The overall aim of the PVCRI Office is to ensure that UNSW researchers have access to the research environment and world-class infrastructure needed to undertake their research and achieve research excellence.

 

The Opportunity

 

Reporting to the Senior Project Officer, you will support the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Infrastructure) and team (particularly Project Officers/Managers and the Office Coordinator), ensuring that all administrative matters are prioritised and handled efficiently and effectively and with a high level of confidentiality and professionalism. The role also requires working with staff in UNSW Divisions and Faculties, the University Community, and external stakeholders, to ensure that the Division of Research develops and implements strategies to continually improve the quality and breadth of service delivery, with the overall aim of supporting world-class research across UNSW.

 

About the successful applicant:

 

You can demonstrate your excellent administrative experience and broad office skills, including expense management, purchase order processing and raising of invoices. Experience in higher education and knowledge of UNSW systems and procedures would be well regarded. Key criteria include:

 

    A performance-oriented approach with a demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks across multiple projects, be proactive, flexible and adaptable and solve problems independently in a high-volume work environment.

    Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and develop effective professional relationships and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.

    Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with experience in professional writing (correspondence, reports, minute-taking etc.).

    Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to manage the delivery of services and operations within strict timelines and competing deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy.

    Experience in handling sensitive and confidential matters and demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in decision-making and referral of matters to senior management as appropriate.

    Ability to learn new systems, skills and procedures as appropriate.

    High-level proficiency in a range of computing skills including Microsoft Office suite, databases, Outlook, and demonstrated ability to learn and implement new systems.

    Ability and capacity to implement required UNSW health and safety policies and procedures.
