ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERMIT Quest for Intelligence, to serve as senior administrator with comprehensive responsibility for managing administrative operations and special projects/priorities, including monitoring progress of initiatives under the Quest umbrella (primarily the Quest Core and Bridge).  Responsibilities include providing counsel/support to faculty, senior researchers, and other staff members regarding finances, personnel, operations, and other policy matters; providing support for and ensuring compliance related to complex research and gift agreements with a variety of sponsors; developing budgets for individual projects and Quest administrative funds, monthly financial projections, strategic plans, etc.; supporting senior faculty in administrative management roles with routine meetings/workshops/seminars/events; overseeing funding opportunities, including the creation and distribution of calls for proposals, collecting proposals, planning selection meetings, and all aspects of the post-award process; overseeing pre- and post- research awards and all facets of sponsored research and financial administration from account creation through close-out; assuring that the Quest meets the terms/conditions outlined in collaboration agreements; coordinating building repair/maintenance, space changes, etc.; overseeing environmental health and safety compliance; maintaining statistical data; interviewing, hiring, training, and supervising staff; overseeing communications, including the design, development, and maintenance of communications vehicles; overseeing the monitoring of all departmental accounts; and other duties as directed. 


Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; at least five years’ management experience in all aspects of university administration; excellent analytical, financial, organizational, writing, supervisory, interpersonal, and communication skills; good judgment, tact, and discretion with sensitive/confidential matters; ability to manage projects and changing/conflicting priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines; and advanced-level knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and accounting principles.  MIT experience and knowledge of its financial, human resources, and operational systems strongly preferred.  Job #17293-11
