Administrative Assistant, Office of Strategic Communications

Within the Division of University Relations, the office of Strategic Communications works closely with division and university partners to develop coordinated communications solutions. In this fast-paced and dynamic environment, this position provides high-level administrative support to the Senior Director of Strategic Communications and other staff within the department.

Support all necessary scheduling and preparation for program-related and staff meetings, handle minimally-to-moderately complex requests for information and serve as first point of contact for visitors and callers to Strategic Communications within the Day Hall suite. Responsible for office administration tasks, including scheduling meetings and appointments for the Senior Director, ordering supplies, handling mail, and equipment maintenance. Develop and maintain office file management system in both conventional and electronic formats. Assist with event planning, approval processes, and transaction processing.

Required Qualifications:

Associate's Degree with at least 2 to 4 years of administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail.

Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive/confidential material in a professional manner.

Ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure with an emphasis on maintaining discretion and integrity while handling day to day activities and interactions; use judgment in accomplishing tasks that are urgent.

Ability to maintain a professional atmosphere in busy office setting.

Must have the ability to multi-task and prioritize, and work with multiple functions with changing priorities.

Must have ability to work within a team environment and demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service.


Experience with Macintosh OS. Ability to lift between 20-45 pounds.
Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience in higher education preferred.
