ACADEMIC/STUDENT ADMINISTRATOR, Program in Media Arts and Sciences (MAS)/Media Lab, to coordinate all aspects of graduate academic administrative matters and manage undergraduate engagement with the lab and MAS program. Will serve as the primary resource for students regarding the academic program, degree requirements, and educational policies and procedures. Responsibilities include managing administrative aspects of graduate admissions process; onboarding new students; tracking students' progress through the program; acting as a resource to students, faculty, and staff on program/MIT requirements; collaborating with the associate faculty department head to organize and facilitate yearly doctoral cohort meetings; counseling and/or referring students in need; leading team organizing large-scale MAS events; managing MAS master's student database and participating in creation of new Ph.D. student database; researching, proposing, and implementing new or updated systems and processes to increase efficiency and accuracy of MAS student services; coordinating with International Students Office to create and maintain visiting student appointments; managing Undergraduate Research Opportunity (UROP) appointments; interacting with Institute central administrative and academic departments; maintaining portions of MAS website; performing limited financial transactions in support of MAS accounts; and managing thesis submission process and course offerings and registration.


Job Requirements


REQUIRED: bachelor's degree (master's preferred); at least two years' academic administration experience; ability to work with students, faculty, and staff in a highly diverse environment; ability to work effectively under pressure of deadlines in an environment with a high volume of work; meticulous attention to detail; ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously; excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills; and ability to enhance and streamline processes.
