Description

Responsibilities:

Human Services, a department of Continuing and Professional Education (CPE), provides continuing education programs and public service to adults throughout California. Within Human Services, the Northern California Training Academy (NCTA) provides training, consultation and evaluation services to California’s Child Welfare System. The program includes a $4 million dollar state-funded, annually-renewable project which reaches 5,000 enrollments in child welfare classes. In addition, the NCTA currently maintains contracts with several entities, including the Department of Developmental Services, the Northern Director’s Association and CWS/CMS. Contracted duties include providing technical assistance, training and research support; in addition the NCTA operates an off-site facility located in Orland, California to provide CWS/CMS training for 13 northern counties. The Northern California Training Academy has also worked on a national and international level, providing expertise in quality workforce development.

The Academic Coordinator position works closely with the Program Director to ensure the sustained growth and development of Northern Training Academy deliverables. The Academic Coordinator serves as Principal Investigator on programs and contracts; primarily serving to manage deliverables associated with child welfare special initiatives, curricula development and organizational development. This will necessitate program innovation and advance writing skills as well as significant positive relationship skills to create programs to serve the needs of both ongoing and potential partners. An expertise in child welfare and organizational leadership is a high priority. The Academic Coordinator will maintain primary responsibility for the administration, management, and coordination of large programs with broad and substantial complexity. The Academic Coordinator is a subject matter expert in child welfare, organizational leadership and related areas and carries broad responsibility for developing programs and curricula; ensuring the quality of instruction and other services; and, coordinating work to meet contract deliverables. As a subject matter expert and academic leader, the Academic Coordinator tracks new legislation, regulations and other mandates and advises the Program Director, other NCTA staff, instructors, state leaders, and county agencies on mandates, best practices and implementation efforts.

Minimum Qualifications: (must be attained at time of application)

-Master’s Degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Community Development or other social science field
-Minimum 5 years’ experience in Child Welfare or Child and Family related organization

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience in program implementation and the ability to lead others in planning and implementation efforts
-Expertise in curriculum development and the application of adult learning methodologies
-Experience supporting community collaboration, meeting facilitation and program development

Preferred Qualifications:

-Knowledge and experience in grant-writing
-Strong report writing skills
-Knowledge of data application, continuous quality improvement and program evaluation

Appointment/Compensation:

This is a full-time academic term appointment with an initial 1-year appointment, eligible for continued reappointment. Salary scale: $69,917-$136,194. Placement within salary scale commensurate with level and experience. UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education is unable to sponsor a work visa (H-1B) to fill this position. Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they are legally authorized to work in the United States.
