Southern Queensland Rural Health (SQRH)

Southern Queensland Rural Health (SQRH) is a joint initiative of The University of Queensland (UQ), University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Darling Downs Health (DDH) and South West Hospital and Health Service (SWHHS). We support nursing, midwifery, allied health students and health professionals to develop a high quality and highly skilled workforce across regional, rural and remote Southern Queensland.

SQRH is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health as a University Department of Rural Health under the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program (RHMTP). SQRH is funded to engage with the local communities to support the delivery of training to students, maintain and progress an evidence base and the rural health research agenda, support improvements in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, and provide regional leadership in developing innovative training solutions to address rural workforce recruitment retention.

About This Opportunity

An opportunity exists to provide advanced level operational and professional leadership to ensure the delivery of coordinated, efficient and high quality interprofessional clinical education and training to students and staff. This position operates across the allied health, nursing and midwifery professions across rural and remote Southern Queensland.

You will be responsible for the operational management of a small team of clinical education professionals and administration staff who will directly support clinical education activities for allied health, nursing and midwifery pre-entry students on rural clinical placement.

This position is located at Charleville, QLD, with travel to other sides across the South West Queensland region as required.

Our Ideal Candidate

To be successful, you will hold an undergraduate degree in a relevant nursing, midwifery or allied health discipline, plus a relevant postgraduate qualification. You will bring extensive relevant experience in clinical practice or clinical education, along with successful leadership experience within either the health or higher education sectors. Your advanced level knowledge of contemporary approaches to clinical education standards will be key to success in this position, as will the application of evidence-based approaches to health care in a rural environment. You will also hold an advanced knowledge of interprofessional education and practice and a demonstrated understanding of the demands within a complex and multi-disciplinary clinical and teaching environment. 

To be successful for this position, you must:

  • Hold unrestricted work rights in Australia to apply for this opportunity.
  • Possess, or obtain, current general registration or certificate to practice with AHPRA or other relevant professional governing body.
  • Hold a current and valid driver's licence.
  • Provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position until 31 December 2021 at Academic level C.

The base salary will be in the range $119,548 - $137,846, plus super of up to 17%. The total package will be in the range $139,871 - $161,279. A relocation allowance would be provided as applicable.
