The Ocean Health Index is an initiative that, among other activities, calculates annual global scores for each country. The OHI measures the health of coasts and oceans along many dimensions, leveraging existing monitoring and reporting data. Global scores are conducted through the Global Fellows program, based at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS) at UC, Santa Barbara.

We seek a Project Coordinator to help run the Global Fellows program. With supervision from the existing OHI team, tasks involve training the Fellows in data science and OHI tools during spring, supporting Fellows analyses during the summer and fall, and helping launch scores at the end of the year.

The Project Coordinator position is a one-year appointment. Anticipated start date June 2020.

Basic Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s degree in ecology, environmental science, data science, geography or related fields at the time of application

Additional Qualifications:

● Master’s degree in ecology, environmental science, data science, geography or related fields by time of starting position

Preferred Qualifications

● Demonstrated open data science skills
● Experience conducting Ocean Health Index scores
● Strong interpersonal skills
● Passion to support the scientific research community

Salary and Benefits: Academic Coordinator I position, 100% time, with salary step commensurate with qualifications. Full benefits package.
